Product Detail

Sabic Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Product Details

Product Description

Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is a versatile thermoplastic polymer derived from ethylene. It is known for its high tensile strength, excellent impact resistance, and superior flexibility compared to conventional LDPE. Due to its enhanced mechanical properties and processability, LLDPE is widely used in packaging films, molded products, and industrial applications.

Key Features:

  • High tensile strength and puncture resistance
  • Excellent flexibility and elongation properties
  • Superior impact resistance at low temperatures
  • High transparency and glossy surface
  • Outstanding chemical and moisture resistance
  • Good processability for film extrusion, molding, and rotational molding

Production Process

LLDPE is manufactured through a low-pressure polymerization process using ethylene and α-olefins such as butene, hexene, or octene as comonomers. The production involves the following steps:

  1. Raw Material Preparation – Ethylene and comonomers are purified and fed into the reactor.
  2. Polymerization – The polymerization occurs using a catalyst system in gas-phase or solution-phase reactors.
  3. Separation & Purification – Unreacted monomers are separated and recycled, while the polymer is purified.
  4. Extrusion & Pelletizing – The molten polymer is extruded into strands, cooled, and cut into uniform granules.
  5. Quality Control & Packaging – The final product undergoes stringent quality testing before being packed for distribution.
